I realized I have not written about my last trips in France, not to mention a few farther afield. So let’s catch up!
In September I attended a really wonderful workshop, Paris Sketchbook, the brainchild of Cynthia Morris, who runs Original Impulse and a lot of other good stuff. She gathered together a few other artist friends and put on one of the best events I’ve been to in a long time. So organized, so thoughtfully put together, so much FUN.
We met in a large yoga/wellness/something like that space, which was perfect for a big group of people with a lot of art supplies!
The neighborhood was cool, too; not an area I have explored before. The weather was typically Paris, alas—GHASTLY. Cold and pouring down endless rain. Perfect weather for staying in and making art!
I took lots of photos of the area, including posters and notices and street art.
We did a bunch of fun exercises, like drawing with our non-dominant hands or with our eyes closed.
We had amazing teachers with equally amazing pages to show and share.
Since I didn’t ask my fellow classmates if I could show their work, I’ll ask them and update this with some other great photos I took.
I went to a nearby bakery—to take photos of the decor—but of course I had to buy something—to eat and to paint!
I was vastly amused to see that LE GRILLED CHEESE has come to la belle France.
More sketchbook pages to come. I got a little crazy with stickers, aka, collage material, that you find everywhere in big European cities, LIKE BERLIN!
I have also been to see a bunch of art exhibitions, both in Paris and in the south of France. Highlights in the next edition.
I always love to read what you have been up to! So happy the workshop was successful!! And so jealous of all the exhibitions you went to!!
